Summer Camp at the MVS Annex

We offer a summer day camp for children ages 5-12 years old at our Mountain Road location. We spend time biking, hiking, swimming, playing games, and doing arts and crafts. We visit Vermont State Parks, bike trails, and local swimming holes.

Summer camp for 2023 is currently full. Please email nick@mountainvillageschool.com
to be added to our waiting list.

Alumni are children that have previously attended MVS as students, campers, or part of our after school program. New campers are children that have never been part of MVS and are joining us for the first time.

Policies & Expectations
  • We provide a morning and afternoon snack. Families are responsible for packing a healthy lunch each day. We often travel with our lunches so please make sure to include an ice pack if needed.
    No candy or sweets please!
  • We anticipate an 8:30-9:00 departure for our morning adventures each day so please make sure your child is prepared to strike off shortly after arrival.  This includes having sunscreen and bug spray already applied and hydration packs and/or bottles filled.
  • If your child will need to reapply sunscreen throughout the day, please make sure to pack it in a re-sealable bag and ensure it is labeled clearly.
  • Toys and screens of any kind from home should stay at home.  We have more than enough to keep children engaged while at camp.  We also want to minimize any difficulties among children, toys from home often spark unnecessary controversies and take away from our focus on relationships and our natural environment.
  • Your child should have an extra set of clothes, including underwear and socks.  We recommend sending a wet/dry bag of clothes and any wet clothes can be sent back home in the same bag.  Children should have at least one set of swim clothes as well.
  • Children are able to independently start, stop, slow down, and maintain control of their bikes.
  • All gear for the day should fit into a bag that is manageable for the child to independently carry moderate distances.
  • All gear, clothing, and shoes should be clearly labeled with the child's name
  • Families are expected to sign up with Procare and utilize the tool to maintain communication
  • Any changes in enrollment must made at least 1 month in advance in order to receive a refund.

BIKE SKILLS

We have lots of local biking planned throughout each week.  It’s important to take advantage of the nicer weather ahead of camp to work on developing children’s bike skills.  Children should be able to independently start and stop a pedal bike (preferably without training wheels), brake to slow down, and be able to maintain control of their bike.  We will be taking the first couple of weeks of camp to assess skill levels, review bike safety and maintenance, and establish rec path etiquette.
