No Such Thing As Bad Weather....

Picture
One of the most important things about MVS is our commitment to getting children outdoors, no matter what. We brave the rain, snow, ice, sleet, mud, wind, and anything else that mother nature throws at us. We're in Vermont and are dedicated to raising children that understand weather, appreciate all of the elements, and know how to prepare themselves to be safe, comfortable, and happy.

A relationship with nature.

In this time of climate change and a fragile natural world, we want to teach children now how to love and respect the earth so that they know how to protect it. We teach children to be kind and gentle to plants and animals and show them that there is much to learn from nature.

Gear & Clothing

Every family is given a 4 page clothing list prior to starting at our school. We ask that children come prepared with the proper layers so that they can stay warm in dry in the winter, and cool and protected in the summer.

We teach children how to dress.

We are committed to making sure children have the proper layers on before heading out into the elements so that they are safe. We don't take unnecessary risks.

We love playing outside.

All of our teachers enjoy the outdoors. Whether it's because skiing is our favorite past time or because we studied environmental science in college, we all love nature. Our passion is to share that love of the outdoors with the children.

We love to ski.

During the months of January and February we take our 3-6 year olds to Cochran's to ski. We appreciate the ability for children to independently learn to navigate both the rope tow and t-bar. We are lucky to have built a strong relationship with the tiny hill in Richmond. They love skiing just as much as we do. They also believe in allowing children the opportunity to learn and be challenged. We give our students the time and space to explore how to get themselves up and down independently.
The hard work pays off; these kids are great skiers.
